Head shot ban

Players with nhl jerseys must obey the rule that head shot is not allowed.

The union’s representatives on the competition committee signed off on the new rule Wednesday. The executive board will soon vote on the proposed edict to eliminate dangerous hits against unsuspecting skaters. If the ban passes, the NHL will be allowed to issue supplemental discipline to violators this season.

The six players on the committee said in a statement that they have deliberated and endorsed to the NHLPA Executive Board the League’s proposal to implement supplemental discipline this season for blindside hits to the head. Their Executive Board will vote on this recommendation and they will respond back to the League with a decision in the next 24-48 hours.

Conklin 29 saves

Ty Conklin with st louis blues hockey jersey has gone from backup to a key part of the team for a playoff spot.

Conklin made a second straight start, both road victories for the Blues. He has four shutouts and 10 wins in only 23 games this season. Conklin beat the New York Rangers on Thursday.“It’s amazing what he’s able to do,” Blues coach Davis Payne said. “He’d been on the bench for a while and all of a sudden, he was thrown into the fire. To perform like that takes a guy with great focus and a great amount of intensity to step in, see the guy at the other end of the ice, and find a way to beat him 1-zip.”

Conklin said they know where they are at. They have to win the majority of their games.

Coyotes beat Stars

Players with phoenix coyotes jerseys got another win for the team.

Adrian Aucoin scored in the fourth round of the tiebreaker and the Coyotes matched a franchise record with their ninth straight victory, 3-2 over the Stars on Sunday night. Phoenix goalie Jason LaBarbera said for a team that supposed to have a lot of skills, they are finding ways to win in a shootout. They have so much confidence right now and he thinks that's the big difference.

Vrbata set up Prucha's goal, scored himself on Phoenix's second power play of the ninght, striking from the left circle at 2:23 of the second period for a 2-0 edge.

Kopecky scores twice

Kopecky with blackhawks jersey did a lot to help the team passing Kings.

Tomas Kopecky scored twice in a 3:20 span in the third period, and Antti Niemi made 17 saves for his fifth career shutout in the Blackhawks’ 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.

“We knew they have a good team and we focused on defense,” Kopecky said. “Everything starts with the defense.” captain Jonathan Toews said they work hard as a tem, but those guys came through for them an really got them that win.

Mikael Samuelsson out for 3 weeks

Winger Mikael Samuelsson with canucks jersey would be out with an undisclosed upper body injury.

Samuelsson left during the third period of a contest that also saw his seven-game point streak come to an end. The 33-year-old had seven of his nine goals during that span in the five games since being moved onto the Canucks’ No. 1 line with fellow Swedes Daniel and Henrik Sedin.

“He’s been playing really well,” Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault said. “Obviously he was contributing to our success and it’s something we’ll have to deal with.”

Ovechkin got 2-game suspension

Star Alex Ovechkin with capitals jersey said he was upset by a two=game suspension issued for a hit on Chicago's Campell.

In a brief interview with reporters in South Florida, the two-time MVP first said he was sorry that the hit resulted in an injury for Campbell and added that he was “disappointed” it resulted in a two-game suspension. He answered just three questions before a Capitals team official ended the session.

“I think it was like the heat of the hit,” Ovechkin said when asked if he was surprised by the league’s decision. “I think it was just a little push.”

Coyotes beat Thrashers
